Overland Tours Ltd | Last updated September 2026
These terms apply to bookings for scheduled small-group, private, self-drive and luxury tours operated or arranged by Overland Tours Ltd in Ireland, Scotland and Portugal. They explain the contractual terms of the booking, the responsibilities of the lead booker and participants and the nature and risks of activities that may form part of a tour.
Please read carefully before booking. By completing a booking, the lead booker confirms that they accept these terms on behalf of every person named in the booking. Nothing in these terms limits any statutory rights that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
Overland Tours Ltd is registered at Odeon House, 7 Eyre Square, Galway, Co. Galway, Ireland, H91 YNC8.
Company Registration Number: 649374. VAT number: 3673509CH.

In these terms, “Overland Tours”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Overland Tours Ltd. “Participant”, “guest”, “you” and “your” refer to each person included in a booking. The “lead booker” is the person who makes the booking.
The lead booker confirms that they are at least 18 years old and are authorised to make the booking and accept these terms on behalf of every participant named in it. The lead booker is responsible for ensuring that all participants receive, read and understand these terms and all relevant tour information before travel.
The lead booker must provide complete and accurate information for all participants, pass relevant communications to them promptly and notify us of any changes. Where a participant is under 18, acceptance must be provided by, or with the authority of, that participant’s parent or legal guardian.
Each adult participant is expected to comply with the participation, conduct and safety provisions in these terms when joining the tour.
A booking is subject to availability and can only be confirmed once the required deposit has been paid. A binding contract is formed when we receive the deposit, accept the booking and issue written confirmation or an invoice.
For bookings made within 60 days of departure, the full tour price is payable at the time of booking.
Before booking, the lead booker must ensure that the selected itinerary, activity level, dates, accommodation arrangements and inclusions are suitable for all participants. Prices may be displayed and accepted in euro or US dollars, as indicated during the booking process. The currency and total price shown in the booking confirmation will apply to the booking. Payments made using a card or account denominated in another currency may be subject to exchange-rate differences or charges imposed by the participant’s payment provider.
Discounts and promotional offers introduced after a booking has been confirmed will not be applied retrospectively unless expressly stated otherwise.
The following non-refundable deposits apply at the time of booking:
Unless different payment terms are stated in the booking confirmation, the outstanding balance is due 60 days before departure. The lead booker authorises us to charge the balance automatically to the payment card used for the booking. If the card has expired, is declined or cannot be charged, we will contact the lead booker and allow a reasonable opportunity to arrange payment. Failure to pay by the stated deadline may result in cancellation and the cancellation charges in section 6 may apply.
Bookings made within 60 days of departure must be paid in full when confirmed unless we agree otherwise in writing.
The price and services included in the booking will be confirmed before the contract is formed. We may correct an obvious pricing or booking error before accepting a booking. After confirmation, any price adjustment will be made only where permitted by applicable law and these terms. We will provide any notice and cancellation rights required by law.
Participants are responsible for reviewing the confirmation and promptly reporting any error in names, dates, room arrangements, itinerary or other booking details.
A cancellation must be notified to us in writing by the lead booker. The date we receive the written cancellation is the date used to calculate the charge.
For scheduled small-group, private and self-drive tours, other than a tour expressly sold as a Luxury Tour:
For a tour expressly sold as a Luxury Tour:
No refund is due for services voluntarily not used after the tour has begun, subject always to applicable law. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that includes appropriate cancellation and curtailment cover.
Where permitted by applicable law, if the client is required to cancel because unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including war, terrorism, civil unrest, a pandemic, government restrictions, border closures, natural disasters or major transport disruption directly prevent them from travelling, Overland Tours will provide a credit for the amounts paid toward a future tour. Any credit is subject to availability and the prices and terms and conditions applicable at the time of rebooking. The client will be responsible for any increase in the price of the replacement tour. Nothing in this paragraph affects any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Any request to change the dates, itinerary, accommodation or other material arrangements forming part of a confirmed booking must be submitted in writing by the lead booker at least 90 days before the scheduled departure date.
All requested changes are subject to availability, the agreement of Overland Tours and the terms of the relevant suppliers. Overland Tours cannot guarantee that a requested change will be possible. A change is not confirmed until it has been accepted by Overland Tours in writing.
A change fee of EUR 50 per person applies to a scheduled small-group tour. A change fee of EUR 100 per person applies to a private or self-drive tour. The client will also be responsible for any additional supplier costs or increase in the price of the replacement arrangements. Details of the applicable costs will be provided before the change is confirmed.
A request received fewer than 90 days before the scheduled departure date may be treated as a cancellation of the original booking and the creation of a new booking. In that case, the cancellation charges set out in Section 6 may apply.
Nothing in this section affects a traveller’s statutory right to transfer a package travel contract to another person who satisfies all conditions applicable to the tour.
A transfer request must be submitted to Overland Tours in writing within a reasonable period before departure. Notice provided at least seven days before departure will be considered reasonable. Where fewer than seven days’ notice is provided, Overland Tours will consider the request but may be unable to complete the transfer.
The original participant and the replacement participant will be jointly responsible for any outstanding balance and for the actual and reasonable costs incurred in arranging the transfer. Overland Tours will provide evidence of those costs on request where required by law.
The transfer will be confirmed by Overland Tours in writing once the replacement participant’s details have been received and any applicable requirements have been satisfied.
We guarantee our scheduled tour departures and do not ordinarily cancel a departure solely because a minimum number of guests has not been reached.
Where a departure has a particularly small number of guests, we may contact the affected guests to discuss the available options. Guests may choose to continue with the confirmed departure or, subject to availability and agreement, transfer to another suitable departure. A guest will not be required to transfer solely because the group is smaller than expected. Our aim is to ensure that each guest receives the best possible tour experience.
Travel arrangements sometimes require changes because of weather, road conditions, safety concerns, supplier availability, local events or other circumstances. We may make minor changes to an itinerary, accommodation, activity, vehicle, route or running order where reasonably necessary. Tours may operate in reverse or be combined with another Overland Tours departure where this does not materially reduce the services or overall experience.
If we must make a significant change before departure, we will inform the lead booker as soon as reasonably possible and provide the choices required by applicable law, which may include accepting the change, accepting a suitable alternative where offered, or cancelling for a refund of payments made for the affected package.
If we cancel a tour, we will provide the remedies and refunds required by applicable law. We are not responsible for independently booked flights, accommodation, insurance, visas, equipment or other expenses outside the services included in our contract, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Where permitted by applicable law, if Overland Tours is required to cancel because of unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including war, terrorism, civil unrest, a pandemic, government restrictions, border closures, natural disasters or major transport disruption directly prevent the tour from operating, Overland Tours will offer the client the option of applying the amounts paid as a credit toward a future tour. Any credit is subject to availability and the prices and terms and conditions applicable at the time of rebooking. The client will be responsible for any increase in the price of the replacement tour. Nothing in this paragraph affects any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
Published itineraries describe the intended tour but are not a guarantee that every route, stop or activity will operate exactly as shown. Tours include an element of flexibility, particularly in rural, coastal and mountainous areas. Weather, tides, road closures, local events, supplier changes and safety considerations may require an alternative route, timing, accommodation or activity.
We will take reasonable steps to provide suitable alternatives and maintain the overall quality of the tour. Weather dependent activities may be changed or cancelled where a guide or activity provider reasonably considers conditions unsuitable or unsafe.
Island Visits and Boat Crossings
Visits to islands, including the Aran Islands, the Skellig Islands and any other island included in an itinerary, are dependent on weather, sea conditions, tides, harbour operations, landing permissions and the decision of the boat or ferry operator. A sailing, crossing or island landing may be delayed, changed or cancelled at short notice, including on the scheduled day of travel, where conditions are considered unsuitable or unsafe.
Where an island visit cannot proceed, Overland Tours will take reasonable steps to provide a suitable alternative activity or amend the itinerary. The cancellation of an island visit for operational or safety reasons will not automatically constitute a significant change to the overall tour. However, any price reduction or other remedy required by applicable law will continue to apply.
Each participant is responsible for considering the itinerary, activity descriptions and practical demands of the selected tour and deciding whether it is suitable for them. Participants must be reasonably fit and capable of taking part in the activities they choose to undertake.
Participants must provide relevant information about medical conditions, disabilities, mobility or accessibility requirements, allergies and dietary requirements at the time of booking, or as soon as they become aware of them. This enables us and our suppliers to assess reasonable arrangements. We will handle health information in accordance with applicable data-protection law and our privacy notice.
Providing information does not guarantee that every requirement can be accommodated. We will discuss material limitations where known and will not unlawfully discriminate against a participant.
Overland Tours guides and team members are not medical professionals. Some guides may hold first-aid qualifications and may provide reasonable assistance within the limits of their training, but this is not a substitute for professional medical care.
If a participant becomes ill or injured, Overland Tours may contact emergency services, seek medical assistance or take other reasonable action considered necessary for the participant’s safety. Where a participant is unable to provide instructions, the lead booker authorises Overland Tours to take reasonable steps to obtain urgent assistance.
Any medical, evacuation, transport, accommodation or repatriation costs not covered by Overland Tours’ legal obligations remain the participant’s responsibility.
Some itineraries include or offer walking, hiking, cycling, e-biking, kayaking, boat or ferry travel and other outdoor activities described in the itinerary. These activities involve normal inherent risks that cannot be entirely removed, including uneven, wet or steep terrain; slips and falls; changing weather; traffic and road conditions; water-related hazards; equipment failure; and the actions of other participants or members of the public.
By booking and participating, the lead booker and each participant acknowledge the nature of the advertised activities and accept the ordinary inherent risks of activities they voluntarily undertake. Participants must use supplied safety equipment, follow reasonable instructions from guides and activity providers, and tell the guide promptly if they feel unable to continue safely.
Where a more relaxed or alternative activity is offered, participation remains subject to availability and operational conditions. No participant should undertake an optional activity that they do not believe they can complete safely. This acknowledgement does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, and it does not restrict any statutory consumer right.
Participants must act responsibly and show reasonable consideration for other guests, guides, suppliers and members of the public. Threatening, abusive, discriminatory, dangerous or persistently disruptive behaviour is not acceptable.
We or an activity provider may refuse participation in an activity where there is a reasonable safety concern, including where a participant appears affected by alcohol or drugs, lacks required equipment, does not meet an applicable safety restriction or refuses to follow reasonable instructions.
In serious cases, we may require a participant to leave the tour where their conduct or circumstances create a genuine risk, seriously disrupt the tour or materially affect the welfare and enjoyment of others. We will consider the individual circumstances and any reasonable alternative before doing so where practicable. Any refund for unused services will depend on the circumstances, recoverable supplier costs and applicable law. The participant is responsible for additional travel or accommodation costs arising from their removal, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
The minimum age for scheduled small-group tours is 12 years on the departure date. Private and self-drive tours may include children of any age where the itinerary, transport, accommodation and activities are suitable.
A parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising a participant under 18 and for assessing the suitability of the itinerary and activities. Individual suppliers may impose additional age, height, weight or competency requirements for safety or insurance reasons. These restrictions will apply even where a child is otherwise eligible to join the tour.
Accommodation is normally provided in twin or double rooms for guests travelling together, unless the booking states otherwise. A solo traveller must book and pay the applicable single supplement and will receive a private room, normally with en-suite facilities. Solo travellers cannot be matched to share a room with another guest by Overland Tours.
Accommodation may be changed to a suitable alternative where reasonably necessary. Room size, facilities and standards may vary between destinations and properties.
We use accommodation providers, transport operators, activity providers, guides and other independent suppliers to deliver parts of a tour. Participants must comply with reasonable supplier terms and safety requirements that are brought to their attention.
Where a supplier’s service forms part of a package organised by Overland Tours, our legal responsibilities as organiser remain subject to applicable package-travel law. Nothing in these terms transfers or excludes those responsibilities. Suppliers remain responsible for their own acts and omissions, and any compensation may be subject to applicable international conventions or statutory limits.
A service booked independently by a participant which is not included in our contract or arranged as part of the package is the participant’s own arrangement and is subject to the third party’s terms.
We strongly recommend that every participant obtains comprehensive travel insurance as soon as the booking is confirmed. The policy should provide appropriate cover for emergency medical treatment, medical evacuation and repatriation, cancellation and curtailment, personal belongings and all activities included in the selected tour.
Each participant is responsible for ensuring that their policy is suitable for their personal circumstances, medical conditions, destination and planned activities. Any medical, evacuation, repatriation, cancellation or other costs not covered by insurance remain the participant’s responsibility. Travel insurance does not replace or limit statutory rights or protections under applicable package-travel or consumer law.
Flights, accommodation, transfers, activities and other services booked independently and not included in our contract are the participant’s responsibility. Participants must allow sufficient time for connections and should avoid making inflexible arrangements that depend on exact tour timings.
Participants are responsible for their luggage and personal belongings, subject to any liability imposed by law. We strongly recommend insurance covering loss, theft, delay and damage.
Overland Tours may communicate with guests through email, SMS, WhatsApp, a booking system chat feature or another suitable digital communication platform. These channels may be used to administer bookings and provide information relating to the operation of a tour, including meeting arrangements, itinerary updates, transport information and other important communications.
Where a group chat is created, guests should be aware that their name, profile photograph, telephone number or other account details may be visible to other participants, depending on the platform used. Participation in a third-party group chat is optional. A guest who does not wish to participate should inform Overland Tours and essential tour information will be provided by another reasonable method.
Photographs and videos may be taken by Overland Tours guides, team members and other guests during a tour. Guides and guests may also share photographs and videos through a tour group chat.
By accepting these terms and conditions, the lead booker acknowledges, on behalf of all participants included in the booking, that general photographs and videos showing tour activities, scenery or groups of guests may be used by Overland Tours on its website, social media channels and other marketing materials to illustrate its tours and guest experiences.
Any guest who does not wish to be photographed or filmed, does not want their image shared within the tour group or does not wish to appear in identifiable photographs or videos used by Overland Tours should inform the guide at the beginning of the tour. Overland Tours will take reasonable steps to respect the request and exclude that guest from identifiable images selected for marketing.
A guest may also contact Overland Tours at any time to object to the future use of an identifiable image. Where reasonably possible, Overland Tours will discontinue its future use. This may not require the withdrawal or destruction of marketing materials that have already been printed, published or distributed.
Overland Tours will take particular care when selecting images that prominently feature an individual guest. We will not knowingly select an image prominently featuring a child as the principal subject of marketing material without the agreement of their parent or legal guardian.
Guests are asked to respect the privacy and wishes of other participants when taking or sharing photographs and videos. Guests should not publish, forward or use an identifiable image of another guest for commercial or promotional purposes without that person’s permission.
Overland Tours cannot control photographs or recordings taken, published or shared independently by other guests through their personal accounts or outside the reasonable control of Overland Tours.
Further information about how Overland Tours collects, uses, shares and retains personal information, including images and information processed through digital communication platforms, is provided in our privacy notice.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted in any vehicle operated or used by Overland Tours. This prohibition includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, vaping devices and any other smoking or vapour-producing products.
If a problem arises during a tour, please tell the guide or relevant supplier as soon as possible so that there is an opportunity to assist and put matters right. If the issue is not resolved, contact our office promptly at [email protected] or +353 87 787 4725.
Any unresolved complaint should be submitted in writing with relevant details, preferably within 30 days after the tour ends. A delay in complaining does not remove any statutory rights, although it may affect our ability to investigate or provide an effective remedy.
We will perform our contractual obligations with reasonable care and skill and accept responsibility to the extent required by applicable Irish and European Union law, including applicable package-travel law. Where we are responsible for the performance of travel services included in a package, that responsibility is not avoided merely because a third-party supplier performs the service.
We are not liable for loss or damage caused by the participant, by an unconnected third party where the event was unforeseeable or unavoidable, or by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, except to the extent applicable law provides otherwise. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Where an international convention or applicable law limits the compensation payable by a supplier, the same lawful limits may apply to our liability. Any limitation will be applied only to the extent permitted by law.
We process personal information to administer bookings, provide travel services, respond to individual requirements and emergencies, meet our legal obligations and operate our business.
Where permitted by applicable law, we may also use contact information to send guests news, tour information and relevant marketing communications. Guests may opt out of these communications at any time by using the unsubscribe option provided or by contacting us.
Photographs and videos are handled in accordance with Section 19 of these terms and our privacy notice.
Further information about how we collect, use, share and retain personal information, the legal bases on which we process it, and how individuals may exercise their data-protection rights is set out in our privacy notice.
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply. A failure or delay by either party in enforcing a right does not waive that right.
The version of these terms supplied or made available when the booking is confirmed applies to the booking, together with the booking confirmation, itinerary and any specific written terms agreed for that tour. If there is an inconsistency, any specific written term expressly agreed for the booking will take priority, followed by the booking confirmation, these terms and the itinerary, subject always to applicable law.
These terms and the contract are governed by Irish law. The Irish courts will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory right a consumer may have to bring proceedings in another competent jurisdiction. Participants retain all mandatory consumer protections that apply to them and nothing in these terms restricts those rights.
By completing the booking, the lead booker confirms that they have read and agree to these Booking Terms and Conditions, Participation Agreement and Risk Acknowledgement on behalf of every participant included in the booking. The lead booker confirms that all participants will be given access to this document before travel and that relevant medical, mobility, accessibility, dietary and other important requirements will be disclosed to Overland Tours.
