Horse-Riding in Ireland

Horse-riding is a popular adventure activity in Ireland and an excellent way to explore the dramatic coastline as part of your Overland Ireland adventure tours. Horseback riding is not for everyone but we have made this an optional activity on your small group tour of Ireland. There are many horse-riding centres of excellence dotted all along the Wild Atlantic Way. Here are a couple of our favourites.
Killarney National Park
Killarney National Park is our first option for horseback riding. South and west of the town of Killarney has an expansive range of rugged mountains. This includes the McGllycuddy`s Reeks, the highest mountain range in Ireland. Where the mountains meet the shores of the lakes is the magnificent Killarney National Park. Get off the beaten track with your horse and discover everything this impressive park has to offer. Our friends at Killarney Riding Stables will cater for all levels ensuring you are in safe hands.
Dingle Peninsula
National Geographic called the Dingle Peninsula the most beautiful place on earth. Horseback riding here is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. Dingle is not only home to the Vikings and some of Hollywood’s most famous, but also to our famous Dolphin called Funghi. The Dingle Horse-riding Centre has been welcoming tourists for almost three decades and can accommodate everyone from beginner to the more advanced riders.
Salthill, Galway
The last option the team of Overland Ireland Adventure tours can offer is Salthill in Galway. If you don’t feel like cycling this could be a great alternative. Here you can absorb the breathtaking views of Galway Bay across to the Burren National Park and on a clear day, the Aran Islands. They have horses and ponies to suit beginners and advanced riders.
On our custom Overland Ireland Adventure tours, we can include multiple horse riding options and we can cater for horseback riding multi-day treks. Just give our team a shout and we will create a magical Irish adventure for you.
* This adventure activity is an optional extra on your Ireland trip.
