Ranging from horseracing to comedy and strange and wonderful in between. Ireland has it all. Here are some of our favorites. We aim to stumble across one or two during your small group tours Ireland:
The Galway International Oyster Festival – Chefs from around the globe gather in Galway for the oyster opening championships each September. Although the festival revolves around the oyster opening competition, holiday makers are entertained with traditional music, dancing and The Oyster Pearl beauty pageant.
The Hooker Festival Kinvarra – Do not be put off by the name! This is a sailing festival in Kinvara. Our majestic traditional Galway Hooker sailing boats with their maroon sails race each other out on Galway Bay. Over a 100 boats will take part for a weekend of racing and celebrations.
Dublin Food Festival – A sensory overload. Ireland has come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of years in the food business. You used to go to France for the food and Ireland for the craic! Now we have it all! Great food, top class restaurants and the friendliest people on the planet.
Electric Picnic – This is Ireland’s largest music and arts festival. It is a weekend long festival located in Stradbally, Co Laois. Revelers from home and abroad gather for 3 days of international music artists, comedians and theatre. Definitely one of Small Group Tours Ireland favorites. We would recommend booking your tickets early as this festival is likely to sell out. Bringing your campervan is a must.
The Matchmakers Festival – Lisdoonvarna. The festival has been welcoming those seeking love for centuries. Music keeps the flame alight each day of the festival. The village Matchmaker, Willie Daly boasts 3,000 successful marriages over the years. You will find him in his ‘Office’ at the Matchmaker Bar in town!
